Building Design to Eurocode 2: Theory and Background to the UK Annex
Introduction
BS EN 1992 Part 1-1: Design of concrete structures; General Rules for Buildings & Part 1-2 : Fire Resistance of Concrete Structures together with the associated UK National Annex replaced the relevant parts of BS 8110 in 2008.
This comprehensive course covers all sections of the new code and explores its practical application with worked examples and handson workshops on design and detailing of most structural elements using the UK's Nationally Determined Parameters. Extensive course materials and design guides are provided.
Course Content:
Day 1
- Design and load combinations, load exercise, materials, structural analysis.
- Durability and fire.
- Car park and column exercise.

- Beam example, detailing, detailing quiz.

Speakers:
Robin Whittle
Robin Whittle, MA(Cantab), CEng, MICE, has been involved with the development of UK and European Codes for the use of structural concrete. Mr Whittle, an Arup consultant, is part of the Project Team which drafted Eurocode 2.
Dr Sarah Williamson
Dr Sarah Williamson, CEng, MIStructE, is a senior engineer with Atkins and previously a lecturer in structural engineering (concrete design) at the University of Birmingham with research and teaching expertise in the field of structural concrete.
