Course programme

Every business needs effective administration. The Business Administration Apprenticeships (BAA) provide the breadth and depth of skills and knowledge needed to equip a person for employment in business administration, including job titles such as Secretary, Administrative Assistant, Data Clerk and Office Junior. The duties that apprentices carry out in the workplace will depend on the employers. These will include a variety of tasks that will support team members including:

Meeting agendas, Organising board meetings, Working with Excel spreadsheets, Faxing and photocopying, confidential documents, Communication skills, Time management, Managing diary systems, Planning and running projects, Organising and supporting meetings, Health and safety, Employers rights and responsibilities.

To get on the course you will need five GCSEs at grade C or above, or equivalent. These passes must include English Language, Maths and a science subject. To be eligible for this course you will need to be in relevant employment.

The assessment of your apprenticeship is an ongoing process throughout the year. You will have a number of specific skills and experience that you must get marked off by your employer or college tutor to prove that you reached a certain level of understanding. At the College you will be assessed by doing written work and assignments which go towards your formal qualification. At the work place you will be assessed by your supervisor on day to day activities basis for your practical assessment.

Many apprenticeships go on to a career in their apprenticeship area and the college will help you with finding a career.
