Business - BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate

This course has three core units: Enterprise in the Business World; Finance for Business; and the Principles of Marketing. You will also take units that will develop your skills in communication, numeracy and information technology.

The whole course is geared towards increasing your employability across a number of fields.

You need four GCSEs at Grade D or above (including English). Alternatively, you'll need a BTEC Introductory Diploma at Merit or above, including Functional Skills, or a BTEC Certificate at Level 1.

You must have a reference from your school or employer, and will complete a test to assess your proficiency in English and Maths prior to full enrolment. You will also be interviewed so you can demonstrate your interest in the subject.

Assessment is through coursework, along with periodic tests. Coursework includes research projects, written assignments, presentations, and practical activities.

You can progress to a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, also offered by City and Islington College. Some students have progressed straight into employment in administration or customer service.
