IntroductionHSL was originally set up to help the Health and Safety Executive – otherwise known as HSE – to minimise risks to people’s health and safety at work. Today, with over 30 years’ experience, investment and growth under our belt, the scope of our work is unparalleled – and ever-widening. So, as well as continuing to support HSE, we now work with a wide range of other public and private-sector organisations, often conducting detailed, bespoke research and development work on their behalf. What makes HSL special?Our organisation brings together some of the most informed, level-headed thinkers in the country; from microbiologists and explosives experts to occupational psychologists and specialist photographers – over 100 with PhDs, and a similar number again with MScs. You won’t find this kind of facility anywhere else – in Derbyshire, in Britain or throughout Europe.
