What you need to know
How will I study?

Learners will be expected to develop the following skills during the programme of study including, but exclusively: Cognitive skills of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, effective problem solving and decision making using appropriate quantitative and qualitative skills including identifying, formulating and solving business problems, effective communication, oral and in writing, using a range of media widely used in business, numeric and quantitative skills including data analysis, interpretation and extrapolation; the use of models of business problems and phenomena. effective use of communication and information technology for business applications, effective self-management in terms of time, planning and behaviour, motivation, self-starting, individual initiative and enterprise, developing an appropriate learning style, self-awareness, openness, and sensitivity to diversity in terms of people, cultures, effective performance within a team environment including leadership.
How will I be taught?

The course has a broad business base, such that each unit will be distinct. Teaching and Learning therefore follows a varied pattern. Learning is accomplished by: Lectures, Speakers & Visits, Seminars, Application of Theory and Models to Real and Fictional Case Studies to analyse problems and make recommendations. Individual, Paired and Group work. Design, Role Play and Experiential Learning. Presentations to Business Clients who feedback on students’ plans and recommendations.
How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed by a mixture of in-course assignment work and end of unit examination assignments. Normally there will be 2 pieces of in-course assignment work set in each unit. 4 units are assessed per semester. Students are required to pass year 1 (8 units) in order to progress to year 2.
