By starting your studies at Sussex on our Foundation Year, you develop a wide-ranging understanding of the ways in which businesses work, as well as essential mathematical skills.
The Foundation Year prepares you to continue your undergraduate studies in the specialism of your choice – business and management, marketing, accounting, finance or economics.

those who aren't sure which subject they'd like to specialise in
those who don't have the right combination of subjects for direct entry into Year 1
those who don't meet the expected requirements for direct entry into Year 1

Course programme

This course prepares you for undergraduate study in business, management and economics.

It develops your personal and academic skills. You can try subjects before choosing a degree specialism.

Core modules introduce you to the role of business in society and mathematical methods used in business. You also choose an option in areas such as:

  • psychology, education and social work
  • law, politics and sociology
  • global studies and languages.

You gain transferable skills by giving presentations, taking part in seminar discussions and writing essays.

These modules are running in the academic year 2018/19. We also plan to offer them in future academic years. They may become unavailable due to staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum. We’ll make sure to let our applicants know of such changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
