This degree will allow you to explore mathematics, statistics, economics and psychology within a management context. You’ll develop knowledge and understanding of how your mathematical and statistical skills can be applied in the world of business. Throughout the course, you’ll build up the skills required for a successful career in business.
This course will allow you to appreciate the synergies between quantitative techniques and management theory, which will give you an edge in understanding the mathematical representation of business situations and the evaluation of evidence within complex organisational systems. You’ll be introduced to and develop advanced knowledge of the major branches of mathematics and management, studying topics as diverse as business ethics and computational mathematics.
Roughly half of what you study will be taught by Leeds University Business School, which is internationally renowned for the quality of its teaching, research and facilities.
Enhancing your degree
This course offers you the opportunity to spend a year working in industry or studying at a university abroad, both of which provide valuable experience and help your personal development. Both of these schemes add an additional year to your course, taking the total course length to 4 years.
Our industrial placement scheme gives you the opportunity to gain work experience in an industry relevant to your degree and interests. Our students often describe this industrial experience as an invaluable part of their degree and one which stands them in good stead for their future careers.
The study abroad year enables you to gain insight into the study of management and mathematics at one of our partner universities overseas. Many students have found this to be extremely worthwhile in helping broaden their horizons in terms of learning about a new culture and improving their foreign language skills.

Entry requirements
A-level: AAA/A*AB where the first grade quoted is Mathematics
Where an A-Level Science subject is taken, we require a pass in the practical science element, alongside the achievement of the A-Level at the stated grade.
Excludes A-Level General Studies or Critical Thinking.
GCSE: You must also have GCSE English at grade B or above (or equivalent).

Course programme
Your time will be divided roughly equally between modules from Management and Mathematics.
Year 1: On the management side you will learn about key ideas from economics and human behavior in organisations, while in mathematics you will study core topics, including calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, probability and statistics and financial mathematics.
Year 2: The management aspect of your course will encompass modules in marketing, anthropology for business and organisational behaviour in practice. You’ll also be able to choose optional modules on topics ranging from corporate social responsibility to global business history. Within in mathematics, you’ll develop your knowledge of statistics and have the option to explore financial mathematics, computational mathematics, analysis and more.
Year 3: You’ll undertake either a management dissertation or a project within mathematics. In addition, you’ll be given a wide variety of management and mathematics optional moduels from which to choose. Mathematics modules are available in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics, whilst management modules allow you to investigate diverse topics, from business ethics to international marketing to employment law.
