The emphasis of the programme is on business process analysis; specification of computer information systems solutions; and the client management, commercial, operational, human and organisational aspects of delivering information system development projects.Year 1/Level 4 of this programme is foundational and introduces students to key theories, concepts and principles relating to business and IT management. This includes the functional areas of people management, finance, understanding markets and operations as well as considering the context and stakeholders associated with the industry. This is supported by academic and professional skills development and a first stage of integrative thinking around responsible management. Within these areas of study the curriculum and assessments are designed to enable students to demonstrate the ability to present, evaluate and interpret data, and to construct arguments in accordance with the basic concepts and principles.Year 2/Level 5 builds upon the foundation of Level 4 and aims to broaden students' understanding of the multi-functional nature of business and IT. Higher level integrative modules are introduced based upon themes such as management and leadership, project management, information management and data analytics. Applied management research methods are also introduced, building upon academic and professional study skills from Level 4. The combination of thematic modules and applied management research methods is designed to create an awareness of different approaches to solving problems in the workplace.
