About this course




Successful students can progress on to a further higher education course such as an undergraduate degree or HND business or alternatively students are able to use this qualification to gain full time employment. During the course we have visits from employers to discuss options for employment following the course. Typical employment would be: Work within the Banking Sector, Marketing or within the legal field. This course covers a wide range of optional positions as the course gives a broad range of subjects which could develop into work opportunities.

Course programme

The course will develop key business skills and knowledge in the following modules:

There are six core units:

  • Business and the Business Environment
  • Marketing Essentials
  • Human Resource Management
  • Management and Operations
  • Management Accounting
  • Managing a Successful Business Project (Pearson-set)

Plus two optional units:

  • Business Law
  • Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management

The course will be split over 3 days, with the possibility of one evening involved.

This course also has the option to be completed as a Part Time course over 2 years, this enabling students to gain employment at the same time as studying.

There are eight units within the course, one is externally marked and all other units are coursework based which are internally assessed.

All eight units must be taken:

  • Marketing Principles (Unit Level 4; Unit Credit 15)
  • Business Environment (Unit Level 4; Unit Credit 15)
  • Managing Financial Resources & Decisions (Unit Level 4; Unit Credit 15)
  • Organisations and Behaviour (Unit Level 4; Unit Credit 15)
  • Business Law (Unit Level 4; Unit Credit 15)
  • Human Resource Management (Unit Level 4; Unit Credit 15)
  • Study and Communication Skills for Business (Unit Level 4; Unit Credit 15)
  • Employability Skills (Unit Level 5; Unit Credit 15)
