Course programme

The major aim of the single honours Business Studies Programme is to provide a sound and relevant educational foundation for a range of professional careers in industry, commerce, the service sector and self-employment. The programmes offered at the Canterbury Campus develop an understanding of both the national and global dimensions of business management. This programme provides students with the necessary tools for the critical evaluation of contemporary business systems enabling them to embark on a career in their chosen business field. The programme offers a contemporary and future orientated analysis of the significant changes impacting on the global business environment. Due to the flexible nature of the framework of programmes in the Business School, students are able to select pathways appropriate to their developing interests as the programmes progress. This provides students with a personalised framework for the critical evaluation of contemporary business issues and their career development. The programme also enables students to develop transferable employability skills appropriate for career development within the business and management field. There are five distinct pathways available to students taught wholly within the Business School: Business Studies with Accounting, Business Studies with Advertising, Business Studies with Entrepreneurship, Business Studies with Human Resource Management or Business Studies and/with Marketing. Additionally, Business Studies can be combined with a wide range of other subjects in the joint/combined honours scheme.
