Recently a number of our clients have asked us for a different way of working with them. Rather than undertaking a major implementation project of some sort, complete with training and on-going coaching etc they have simply asked whether we would come on site for a day or two a month to guide rapid improvement projects, coach individuals using the TOC-Lean tools and work with their top team on the longer term strategies.

This has been a great success; Ted has led and assisted with the introduction of Lean techniques such as TPM and also DMAIC, worked with small teams in the implementation of their rapid improvement projects, and so on. He has also spent time helping the internal improvement project leaders to develop their own leadership skills.

Any training that took place was simply done in the context of the days agreed in the month. If more was required then that simply led to the provision of that training, and support, under the usual method.

What the companies gained was the focus and clarity that we can bring to projects and business planning, because our expert knowledge of the TOC-Lean tools ensures that they are addressing constraints within the business unit, and therefore making a difference to the bottom-line, rather than concentrating their energies on localised improvements that will turn out to have no long-term financial benefit.
