Introduction:
This one-year course provides an additional year of study to achieve the award Foundation Degree Business. It is aimed at students who have successfully completed the HNC Business and who wish to continue with their studies.

These may be students who completed the HNC at Preston College, or other network colleges, and who have taken a study break.

Other non-network HNC students would need to discuss suitability with the Course Co-ordinator.

Study Mode & Location:
This part-time course will be available on an afternoon and evening basis. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR. Please contact the Advice Centre for days and times.

Course Content:
This `top-up` course is on a modular basis and involves the completion of 4 modules including:

  Marketing
  - includes the main principles and practices of the marketing function.
• 
  
  Supervisory Studies
  - focuses on the roles and responsibilities of first-line managers and covers aspects of employment law.
• 
  
  Learning from Work 1 & Work 2
  - include work-based projects with individual tutor support. They are delivered on consecutive semesters.

Assessment:
Assessment for this course is via course work, work-based assignments and an end of module test.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course allows students to progress to a BA (Hons) Degree in Business and Management at the University of Central Lancashire. There may also be entry to other business-related degrees and professional qualifications.
