Course programme

C.P.C. Freight National:

Generally, as there are exceptions, an operator wishing to carry goods in a vehicle over 3500 kg gross weight for hire and reward in the UK will need to satisfy the requirement of ‘Professional Competence,’ in order to obtain a Standard National Operators Licence.

One way of doing this is by passing the relevant exams set by the OCR Examinations Board and obtaining a Certificate of Professional Competence in National Freight.

The Certificate of Professional Competence Freight National examinations set by OCR consists of two Multiple Choice Papers and one Case Study Paper.

The examinations are held four times a year in March, June, September and December.

Module 1:

In this module students will be required to answer 30 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes. The topics covered by this core module apply to both road freight and passenger transport and include much of the financial management and law sections of the syllabus together with subjects such as employment law.

Module 2:

In this module students will be required to answer 40 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes. The topics covered are those parts of the syllabus relevant to the road freight industry only. Topics covered include weights and dimensions, driver’s hours and safe loading.

Module 4:

This is a Case Study paper, which covers the entire syllabus from modules 1 & 2. The exam lasts 2 hours and consists of eight questions giving a total of 90 marks.

Intensive Courses:

Held at our Caenby site, our intensive courses run for nine consecutive days, excluding weekends, followed three weeks later by the exam date. Courses start around three weeks before the exam date to enable students to thoroughly learn the material, and also have time to revise and practise their study techniques.

The course is available as either a residential option including nine days bed and breakfast accommodation at our quiet and spacious residential site or on a non-residential basis. Both courses include notes, hot lunches, teas and coffees, revision practice and exam fees.
