NVQ 2: HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
Level: 2
Location: Hall Green Campus/ Work Placement
Times: PT
Duration: 7 months
What will I study?
You will study 6 units; 4 mandatory units, and 2 optional units to suit your work environment.
You will study 4 mandatory units which are:

Communication and record keeping
Supporting Health & Safety
Developing knowledge and practice
Support care and well-being of individuals

You can choose 2 optional units from the following:

Supporting daily living activities
Carrying out and planning care activities
Supporting access and use of information
Supporting individuals to make journeys

You will need to set some time aside every week for working at home on your NVQ. Help and support are available from your assessor in a group and/or one-to-one basis. The assessor may run regular workshops for extra support.

What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course you could progress onto the NVQ 3: Health & Social Care. However, progression is not automatic on completion of level 2; it depends on your changing job role and whether it fulfils the criteria set by the awarding body.

Requirement
This nationally recognised qualification is an ideal course if you are fairly new to the Care Industry and under the supervision of others. You must be working with clients in a Care capacity e.g. Nursing Homes, Home Care and Hospitals. You will generally be supervised and working with other staff members, but have some degree of responsibility. You must have at least 6 months' experience in Care before starting the NVQ 2 and be aged 18 years or over.
