CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children (for 16-18 students)

Who is this course for?

Do you have a passion to work with children? If so this course is a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in the early years sector.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

The course is suitable for students aged 16-19 years. For students aged 16-19 years you will need 2 GCSEs grade E or above (including English Language). Mature students need to show that they can work at Literacy Entry 3 or above. Work experience in a childcare setting is desirable.

What will I study ?

You will study 13 units: * Listening and talking to young children * Growth and development * Respecting young children * Human growth and development * Healthy eating for families * Healthy living * Sharing learning experiences with young children * Finding out about Forest Schools * Preparing for your next steps * Supporting babies to play * Musical activities for young children * Practical health and safety when with young children * Craft activities for young children You will also undertake work experience in pre-school setting starting in term 2.

How will I be assessed ?

Assessment is through coursework, practical work experience and assessment. Please ensure you bring to your interview a handwritten personal statement of approx. 200 words about why you want to work in Childcare
