Course programme

Who is this course for?

If you are passionate and dedicated to working with children then this is the course for you. You will build up a comprehensive range of knowledge and skills to help you start your career of working with children. The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to work with children 0 - 5 years with knowledge of children up to 7 years or to progress onto the CACHE L3 Early Years Education & Care (EYE).

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

Applicants must be 16-19 years of age and will need: * Three GCSE's, grade D or above. * Grade C or above in English Language. * Grade D or above in Mathematics. Evidence of work experience with children is essential. A Disclosure & Barring Service is also required.

What will I study ?

You will study through taught college lectures and placement 12 hours per week) in an Early Years setting.

How will I be assessed ?

The qualification will be assessed by a range of methods. This includes tasks and assignments such as written information, oral questions, portfolio and direct observation in the workplace. You also need to complete 250 placement hours. 10 assignments, 1 professional development folder and 2 observations. Please ensure you bring to your interview a handwritten personal statement of approx. 200 words about why you want to work in Childcare

What qualifications could I achieve ?

In order to successfully complete the Level 2 Certificate, you will need to achieve a total of 33 credits, 29 from mandatory group plus 4 credits from optional.

Yes. All applicants will be interviewed and required to undertake a literacy assessment and written task.
