This qualification develops the skills and knowledge needed to work without supervision with children and their families.
The syllabus includes: Child Development, including the theories and frameworks that support this, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Working with Parents and External agencies and the Learning and Welfare Requirements of the Early Years Framework (EYFS) as well as further Optional Units.
The qualification will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. These will include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments and tasks set by CACHE.To have completed the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
To be employed in the childcare sector, or have the ability to find a voluntary placement

You need to be over 16 and will be required to apply for a CRB enhanced disclosure (police check) and this should be returned with a clean record
You will be required to achieve a successful interview with a member of the Teaching TeamThe Cache Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce is an adult course designed to move you forward in your career. The expected outcome will therefore be employment in an unsupervised role in a childcare setting, although you may seek a further qualification in order to enter higher education. Examples of these roles include; Early Years Assistant or Practitioner in a Children’s Centre, School or Pre-School, Nursery Foundation Stage Assistant or Practitioner, Welfare Assistant in schools, Learning Support Assistant, private nanny positions or Special Educational Needs Assistant.
You may also seek further training such as the Extended Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (which is usually accessed through employment), or to prepare for University through an Access course.You will learn through taught classes, practical activities and individual study. Classes will include group work, discussion, written tasks and creative projects. You will be assessed through your course work and in the workplace, therefore you need to be working or volunteering or on a practical placement in order to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
In your workplace or practical placment, you will need to complete 400 hours or up to 16 hours a week, as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating 'skills' in real working situations.
