Course Content

IGCSE Geography is split into three distinct areas:

Geographical Themes including:

  1. Population and settlement
  2. The natural environment
  3. Economic development - worth 45% of the final grade

Geographical Skills testing:

  1. Interpretation and analysis of geographical information,
  2. Decision making and
  3. Application of graphical and other techniques including the use of a 1:25 000 or 1:50 000 OS map with a key - worth 27.5% of the final grade

Alternative to Coursework questions:

Completing a series of written tasks relating to field work scenarios taken from different aspects of the syllabus content. The questions involve an appreciation of a range of techniques used in fieldwork studies - worth 27.5% of the final grade.

Equipment

All students will require a pencil, ruler (30cm), eraser, pencil sharpener, black/blue pen, red biro, green biro, pencil crayons (minimum - red, blue, green, brown, black, purple, orange, yellow, pink), a pair of compasses, a piece of string (30cm) and a protractor. A basic calculator will also be useful.
