This course is designed for the community of information technology (current and prospective) and other industry professionals seeking a broader overview of the global capital markets and the related financial securities issued and traded by financial institutions. With an approach that is non-technical, this course provides you with the essential knowledge of the business required to climb the ladder of success as an IT professional in a financial institution. We will begin with the basic concepts: terms and definitions; the structure of the financial marketplaces and characteristics of debt and equities markets. We then focus on hand-on understanding of the issuance, trading (market making and proprietary trading), through to settlement of securities from fixed income and equities securities perspective. Candidates can choose to enrol on any of the available class formats - Daytime Release, Weekend or Evening Series.
