This is an introductory qualification if you are interested in working with children or in the health and social care sector.
You will cover the following units:
How humans develop throughout their lifespan;
Food and nutrition;
Health and safety;
Care of children;
Play and practical activities.
If you wish to progress to a level 2 qualification will complete a placement in a pre-school at the end of the year.

About this course
English language grade D or above at GCSE plus 4 grade E's, one being maths. A satisfactory interview and a completed DBS (formerly Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)) check. Satisfactory free writing task and skills builder test.

Course programme
If you make good progress and have good attendance, puntuality and behaviour, you may progress on to the CACHE level 2 certificate in children and young people's workforce or the BTEC first Diploma in Health and Social Care.
Course Assessment Method
There are six subject areas and you will be assesed on these using a variety of written and practical tasks.
All units are compulsory and in addition you will study Functional Skills or GCSE in English and maths if required.
