Course programme
Summary
This course is divided into two routes from which a student will choose to specialise in one. The two options are Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery. The course is delivered in units. You will take three core units and then other units that are trade specific. The core units are: Safe working practices Information, quantities and communication with others Construction technology The specialist Site Carpentry units are: First fixing operations Second fixing Erecting structural carcassing Carrying out maintenance Setting up and operating a circular saw The specialist Bench Joinery units are: Setting up and operating a circular saw Produce setting out details for routine joinery products Mark out from setting out details for routine joinery products Manufacture routine joinery products By the end of the course, students will have gained up to three of the four elements needed to complete a basic Level 2 Apprenticeship Framework, which include a technical certificate, a health and safety test and functional skills.
