Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence.
The CCTV Public Space Surveillance course for working as a CCTV operator within the private security industry (RQF), endorsed by Dynamo Concise Training Limited and listed on Emagister, has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
It is based on the relevant SIA specifications for learning and qualifications and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for learners who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as CCTV operative within the private security industry.

About this course
On successful completion of the course the delegate will receive a CCTV Public Space Surveillance certificate. I have been a trainer for 10 years. I train a variety of subjects, including security, licensing, first aid and teacher training. I have worked in the security industry for over 20 years, in various disciplines, including Close Protection, Door Supervision and as a CCTV operative. I utilise a variety of training techniques to ensure every learner feels included within the classroom environment.
Course programme
The course is divided into 3 units and is assessed through 2 multiple choice examinations and a practical test.
These units are as follows:
Unit 1: Working in the private security industry
- Guided learning hours are 10 hours for this unit.
- Assessed by a 1 hour 40 question multiple-choice examination.
- Learners must achieve a score of at least 70% to pass this unit.
- Guided learning hours are 14 hours for this unit.
- Assessed by a 1 hour, 40 question multiple-choice examination.
- Learners must achieve a score of at least 70% to pass this unit.
- Guided learning hours are 8 hours for this unit.
- Assessed by the tutor and externally moderated by HABC to pass this unit.
The course is divided into 3 units and is assessed through 2 multiple choice examinations and a practical test.
