Do you want to be a Teaching Assistant in a school? Then this is the course for you! This course will give you the teaching assistant qualification that you need in order to gain employment in primary or secondary school.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?Learners should be at least 18 years old. Working towards Literacy at Level 2 is desirable. Learners should have a voluntary placement arranged in a school. They also need competent IT skills for the e-portfolio.
What will I study ?One day a week in college plus independent study using an e-portfolio. Students will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
How will I be assessed ?Internal assessment by a range of methods including direct observations (being vistied at your setting), e-portfolio of evidence, written assignments and a set of tasks set by CACHE. Please ensure you bring to your interview a handwritten personal statement of approx. 200 words about why you want to work in Childcare
What qualifications could I achieve ?CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (QCF).

Further InformationYou will need to provide evidence of at least 12 hours working practice at interview. You will need to complete 12 hours of placement practice each week. You will need access to a PC for independent study and have suitable IT skills along with access to Microsoft Word.
