Reviews
Course programme
This course provides an overview of previous physiological and psychological theories of eating disorders - specifically anorexia and bulimia - and introduces an important new theory which unites the roles of body and mind in the maintenance and progression of these illnesses. This updated approach, firmly based in over 15 years’ research by the textbook’s authors, leads to criticism of some previous practices and to many detailed pointers to good practice for the helping professional who has eating-disordered clients.
Study will be carried out by reading the textbook and submitting written assignments – these can be sent by e-mail. There is no minimum study time and the student may complete the course by submitting all coursework to satisfactory standard.
A free textbook will be sent to UK students. Non-UK students will need to buy the book from an Internet bookstore or other source.
