Course outline
This 90-hour qualification is the next step towards becoming a counsellor. You learn about yourself, counselling theory, and the therapeutic relationship.
You can study for: (a) 3 hours a week for one year (September to June) or (b) 1 day a week for one and a half terms (February to June). Because the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills runs from September to January, the February start date allows for immediate progression to the Level 3, (if you are successful in gaining a place).
What do I need to get on the course?
You must be at least 21 years old and complete a written application and interview.
Where does it lead?
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and/or employment as a skilled helper.

How much will it cost?

19+: Adults on many courses are eligible for Government funding for some or all of the fee. Adults aged 19-23 are eligible for Government funding up to and including their first full level 3 qualification, and after that they may access an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees if the course is loan-fundable. Adults aged 24+ on a level 3+ course may take out an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees if the course is loan-fundable. If you do need to pay a fee, the College offers a number of ways to pay and can also advise you about financial support available to you.

When you are offered a place you are informed of the enrolment day and time. We advise you to apply early.

Support for you
Before you start your lessons, you’ll take part in induction sessions, where you’ll meet other students and find out all about the support that’s available to you. This includes learning about the Virtual Learning Environment, tutorials and the campus facilities. All students can receive free, confidential and impartial advice on things like: your next step in education or your career, finance, housing, health, immigration, benefit claims, legal problems, sexual health, drugs, staying safe, personal / emotional concerns and other issues.
