The entry level Certificate II will give you the fundamental skills needed to start working on a farm and help you build an all-round knowledge to impress potential employers.The Certificate II in Agriculture will:Prepare you for work on a farm, teaching you how work effectively in the agricultural industry.Teach you how to keep the farm safe and well maintained, including how to undertake general maintenance and repair works.Give you the skills to look after livestock.Ensure you have the knowledge to establish, grow and harvest crops.You’ll also have a chance to put what you learn into practice through five workplace projects. These projects will help you demonstrate your knowledge, observe procedures in a real workplace and develop contacts within the agriculture industry.Why study this course?The Certificate II in Agriculture is an excellent introduction to the industry. It teaches you a wide range of skills, including farming basics, use of machinery, and management of livestock and crops to help you become the all-round employee that farms look for.It has been designed in consultation with farm industry experts, so you can be sure that the skills and techniques you learn will be relevant when you enter the workplace.This qualification is built around a simulated farm business called Miltop Downs. Using the Miltop Downs website, you’ll be able to put what you learn into the context of a real farm and better understand how to apply your skills to typical scenarios that arise on a farm.The course will give you access to Trade Hub as part of your studies. Trade Hub is a literacy and numeracy support tool, which explains key concepts that you will need to understand to work in agriculture (area, volume, instructions, and safety documents).
