Learn how to care for wild and exotic animals in a zoo or wildlife sanctuary, with Open Colleges’ ACM40210 Certificate IV in Captive Animals.What you'll learnDuring your studies you will learn to observe, monitor and interact with exotic animals, as well as the skills and knowledge needed to maintain and monitor their health.You will be trained to assist with capturing, restraining and moving animals between enclosures.The Certificate will teach you how to plan individualised nutrition and enrichment programs for animals, as well as how to manage enclosures and exhibits.Your study will cover interactions with the public, and will teach you to prepare and present information to the public and conduct public awareness campaigns.You will also be trained to lead and manage a team of animal care workers in a zoo or wildlife sanctuary environment.Why study this course?The Certificate combines the best of both worlds: the flexibility of online study with 120 hours of work placement in a real zoo or wildlife sanctuary of your choosing, where you can put your knowledge into practice.Open Colleges has partnered with Zambi Wildlife Retreat. Zambi rescues and rehabilitates animals that have been retired from zoos, circuses and private ownership. As a result of this partnership, students can apply to do work placement with Zambi.The Certificate IV is also a great stepping stone into further zoological studies.Open Colleges is offering the Certificate IV in partnership with TAFE NSW. What this means is that you not only get a high quality education, but a nationally recognised qualification that you can use anywhere across Australia.This course involves work placement that currently needs to be undertaken in Australia.
