You will engage in a range of course activities, including working in pairs and small groups, and explore the Person-Centred attitudes and skills, the meaning of self-awareness, professional and organisational issues, difference and diversity and personal development.
There are lots of opportunities to practise counselling skills, and you will receive regular feedback on your practise sessions. You will develop the skill of self-reflection, and evidence this in both your practise sessions and written work.
This comprehensive course will enable you to use a range of counselling skills in different settings, and underpinned and informed by an understanding of boundaries, ethics and counselling theory.

About this course
This course offers the opportunity to explore and understand one of the most widely used Humanistic Therapies, and develop the skills and attitudes necessary for any kind of helping relationship.
This course will enable you to make an informed decision about counselling - whether you are suited to this kind of work, and wish to progress into training to become a fully qualified Counsellor.
This course is aimed at those who are considering counselling as a profession, or want to use counselling skills in roles where they are needed, such as teaching, nursing, health or social work.
To be considered for this course, you will need an openness to personal development and change, to keep confidential matters within the training room, to be able to express yourself clearly (verbally, and in your written work), and be willing to listen and respond to others.
This course is pitched at level 3, and has been developed in line with established counselling skills qualifications.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive the Acorn Wells Counselling Courses Certificate in Person-Centred Counselling Skills & Theory, and can progress into further training.
This certificate course is pitched at level 3, yet exceeds the training hours (guided learning hours) of many other level 3 counselling courses - allowing more time to practise, develop, and receive tutor feedback in the use of counselling skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the theoretical model.
Whilst beneficial, you do not need a level two award in counselling or counselling skills to be considered for this course. This certificate course includes the skills, boundaries and ethics you would cover at level two, yet these are explored at a deeper level, and in line with the learning outcomes for each of the four modules.
Through the design of this course, and the very nature of the person-centred approach, this certificate course includes a substantial amount of personal development work, and the self-awareness activities have been uniquely designed to reflect the role of the person-centred helper.
We will send you the course booklet and application form, and are very happy to answer any questions you may have. We will contact you again to let you know the outcome of your application. If you are invited to interview we aim to advise you of our decision on the day.
