About this course

It focuses on the learner, assessing their existing knowledge and practices around interviewing techniques and skills, selection criteria and methodologies, but ties this to successful on-boarding – making this the starting point with the end in mind. On-boarding is often viewed as a standalone process, and unit managers are often put on the side lines when human resource divisions attempt to on-board newly hired staff into the business.

Course programme

This course will connect the three arms of recruitment, selection and successful on-boarding very closely to give learners a logical and practical sense of how they can improve their roles to achieve superior results. Real examples of applications, CVs and case studies will be handled to hone in on new skills and to use newly introduced tools immediately and with confidence.

The aims of the programme are to:

1. Screening and selection methods – where do we go wrong? And why?
2. Competency based interviewing: what it is, how to use it and how to link this to the job vacancy and description
3. Critical communication skills during the screening, interviewing and selection processes
4. Internal cohesion – human resources and the business – how to improve and capitalize on this
5. On-boarding – what is it, and how does it benefit the business? Why should we have a proper on-boarding programme
and what components are required for it to be successful?
