2. Course description This full Level 2 course is the industry standard for those new to working in a school setting as a Teaching Assistant. The course will build your confidence and awareness around your roles, and associated responsibilities, and will equip you with a toolkit of skills, knowledge and experiences to enable you to perform your duties professionally. You must be working in Primary or Secondary education (not Early Years) for a minimum of 6 hours per week (this can be on a paid or voluntary basis). Applicants should have access to basic IT packages such as Word and PowerPoint to complete the coursework. You will be invited to a pre-course interview to determine your suitability for the course. Successful applicants will need to attend an induction session on Tuesday 27th September.

3. Entry requirements You should have a placement (paid or voluntary) for at least 6 hours per week in an infant, junior or secondary school, and be able to demonstrate written and communication skills at Level 2 (GCSE A*-C). You will undertake a pre-course interview and task, where this shows your existing skills exceed minimum requirements; you may be exempt from the first three weeks of the course. This can be discussed at your interview. 4. Equipment required There are no additional costs for this course. 5. Assessment method The course is assessed at Level 2, and this is through the production of written coursework, presentations (using ICT), as well as in-class discussion. You will also need to be observed at least once in the workplace undertaking the Teaching Assistant role.
