About this course

Not formally identified yet by the awarding body. Our expectation is that you would hold the following:
· Level 2 in English/ Literacy
· Preferably a minimum Level 1 in Numeracy/ Maths.
· Level 2 or 3 qualification in your main subject area.
· A commitment to improving your ICT skills.

Level 3 Wisemore Campus 20 Weeks Part Time

To provide a teaching qualification for those in Associate teacher role in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
Associate Teacher Role:
This is likely to be a teacher role with fewer responsibilities i.e. you predominantly teach in at least one of the following ways: from packs/ pre-prepared materials, on a one to one basis, to a particular level/type of learner [not across a range] and deliver short courses. It also includes those whose main role isn't teaching, but who deliver learning on a fairly regular basis i.e. through termly contracts.

There are both mandatory and optional units. At the time of going to print, the optional units are still being identified by awarding bodies.
The mandatory units are as follows:
· Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector [6 credits]
· Planning and enabling learning [9 credits]
· Principles and practice of assessment [3 credits]
The optional units will be to the value of 6 credits.

Progression
Out of the 24 credits you will obtain at Certificate level, you will be able to take 15 of those in to the Diploma in teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
Please note that this progression route is only available if your role has changed to Full Teacher Role.
