About this course

• describe the concepts of virtue, narrative and character
• identify key thinkers in character ethics
• explain key ideas and principles in character ethics
• apply the principles of character ethics to moral issues in at least one area (such as healthcare, education, sex and relationships, politics or the workplace).

Course programme

• Key ideas and thinkers in character ethics, including Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas.
• How character ethics compares to other approaches, such as natural law and utilitarianism.
• Applications of character ethics in areas such as:
a. healthcare
b. education
c. sex and relationships
d. politics
e. the workplace.

• There will be a combination of individual and group activities, discussion and teacher explanation (including different media).
