This Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry course consists of 5 sections exploring different aspects of Chemistry.
This course consists of five units:
Unit 1: Principles of Chemistry
Unit 2: Chemistry of the Elements
Unit 3: Organic Chemistry
Unit 4: Physical Chemistry
Unit 5: Chemistry in Industry
The five sections are as follows:
Unit 1: Principles of Chemistry
- Atoms
- Atomic structure
- Relative formula masses
- Chemical formulae and chemical equations
- Ionic compounds
- Covalent Substances
- Metallic crystals
- Electrolysis
You will also consider the practical aspects of study in these topic areas.
Unit 2: Chemistry of the Elements
- The Periodic Table
- Group 1 elements - lithium, sodium and potassium
- Group 7 elements - chlorine, bromine and iodine
- Oxygen and oxides
- Hydrogen and water
- Reactivity series
- Tests for ions and gases

The format of the Examinations
PLEASE NOTE: All exams will be held during the May - June exam period.
Paper 1 is externally assessed through an examination paper lasting 2 hours.
Paper 2 is externally assessed through an examination paper lasting 1 hour.
