The purpose of this course is to prepare you to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years. You will learn the knowledge and theory of childhood learning in taught sessions and gain practical skills in a work placement. Leaners can also continue their study onto the level 3 Early Years Educator Award. This course will be held at one of our offsite locations.

About this course
Observe and assess children's developmental needs and plan appropriate experiences for them.
Work with others in an education or care setting to meet the needs of the children.
Work in a way that safeguards and protects children's welfare; following procedures of various environments.
Use knowledge and theory of child development to inform your professional practice.
All materials are supplied for this course. You should bring a folder for your courses materials and a black pen. You will need to complete and pay for a DBS check (criminal record check) in order to carry out your work placement.
Please note this course will be taught offsite.You will be required to attend class one day a week and a work placement two days, which you need to organise yourself.
Classes will consist of taught lessons, group discussions, quizzes, role-play, DVD resources, research activities and independent work.
You will be required to build a portfolio of knowledge through written assignments, work products, professional discussion, oral and written questions and through direct observation in your workplace, carried out by a qualified assessor. Your assessor will visit you three times during the award, one each term.
