Course programme
In 1922 Mussolini stated: "Cinema is the state's most effective weapon". In 1923 the LUCE Institute began the production of documentaries aimed at enhancing the image of the dictator whilst celebrating the achievements of the regime. However censorship was surprisingly loose and it opened new opportunities for directors and producers who made their names after the war. In this course, we will analyse the language, style and context of propaganda films and main stream fictional movies.
