Course programme

The course is organised into units including:

  • Developing yourself as an effective HR or L&D Practitioner
  • Understanding organisations and the role of HR
  • Recording, analysing and using HR information
  • Resourcing talent
  • Supporting good practice in managing employment relations
  • Supporting good practice in performance and reward management

Students who want to undertake the Certificate but want a Learning and Development aspect can make their certificate credits up by choosing some option units from the Learning and Development Programme

Assessment

Assessment is continuous with an assignment addressing each unit.

Delivery of the course comprises:

A weekly teaching and practical session on a Tuesday

Tutorial support sessions

Action Learning Set meetings arranged between the students

A Residential / 2 Day Block, scheduled towards the end of the course to support the assignment work and team development and skills. Students undertake a range of team building activities over the 2 days; this programme has proved to be extremely successful over the last 6 years with excellent student reviews

Students on this programme also are offered the opportunity to visit an Employment Tribunal. Past students have found this to be particularly beneficial, with an initial talk from a Judge and the opportunity to observe employment relations / law in action.

We encourage student to attend Local Branch events which include Employment Law updates and topical HR / L and D aspects.

Development of the Certificate to a Diploma in Human Resources Practice

Learners who wish to attain the Diploma can undertake extra units from the Certificate in Learning and Development Practice plus the unit, “Supporting Change within the Organisation”, in order to achieve sufficient Diploma Credits. . – There is an extra charge for this
