The SSSTS is a two day refresher course, designed as the perfect way to bring health and safety knowledge up to date. As well as giving a thorough understanding of legislation, the course also covers health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.

Appreciate recent developments in construction legislation accident causes, costs and reasons for prevention
Understand the legal system, relevant legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, Guidance Notes and Codes of Practice.
The refresher course is designed for existing SMSTS certificate holders and should be taken every five years to help stay up to date with the latest changes in the industry. Site Managers and Supervisors who do not hold the SMSTS certificate should sit the five-day course instead. For those who have previously completed their SMSTS course 5 years ago and wish to renew their certificate. You can undertake the Refresher course within 6 months either side of your SMSTS pass date.

Upon completion of this course, candidates will be able to:
- Appreciate recent developments in construction legislation accident causes, costs and reasons for prevention
- Understand the legal system, relevant legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, Guidance Notes and Codes of Practice.
- Conduct risk assessments
- Monitor health and safety performance
- Understand best practice in the management of sub-contractors
- Disseminate information to operatives and sub-contractors.
