About this course

Tools and overalls are provided for use within the training centre only. You may wish to purchase one of our tool kits and start to become accustom with the tools within the kit whilst on your City & Guilds course. A mobile canteen sells a selection of hot and cold food at lunch time.

Course Details

This week course will provide students with the skills, knowledge & competence to choose, design & install copper tube for domestic installation, including pipe work sizing, fittings, jointing & installation.

1-week (allocated) programme

Gain practical and theoretical experience and an overview of the following areas:

• Safe working, including PPE.

• LPG & heat

• Tools& Materials

• System Design, of pipe work for Heating, Hot & Cold water systems: calculating tube diameters, correct selection of pipe size, correct layout of system, insulation requirements, fixing positions, suitability of incoming services, domestic cold water supply and producing working drawings to enable fabrication.

• Position Components, 2 radiators, boiler jig & bathroom sink.

• System consists of: 2 radiators and boiler rig, plus pipe work to and from, bathroom basin and hot/cold supplies to.

• Pipe work in under floor area.

• Copper tube fabrication skills including: marking and cutting, bending, machine bending, multiple sets and bends, fixing positions, jointing and testing, fabrication & installation.

• Economic use of materials.

• Commission and Decommission Heating, Hot and Cold water system, sterilisation of pipe work, static pressure, working pressure, flow rate, temperature and test certificates, leaks etc.

• Rectification of faults found.

• Maintaining system
