Course description: The City & Guilds Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations (2394-01) will help you to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to professionally install and carry out initial verification and testing on electrical installations with regulations and requirements.
It is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training. The qualification is also suitable for those with limited experience of initial inspection of electrical installations, such as those entering the industry from other engineering disciplines or who have been working in allied trades.
Your key learning outcomes of the qualification include understanding the requirements for
Completing the safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
Initial verification of electrical installations
Completing the inspection of electrical installations prior to their being placed into service
Safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
Testing before circuits are energised
Testing energised installations
Completion of electrical installation certificates and associated documentation
Following the completion of the qualification you will be able
Confirm safety of system and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning
Carry out inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
Test electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
Commission electrotechnical systems and equipment
Entry requirements: All candidates should have basic knowledge of electrical science and experience of electrical installation.
You need to be aged over 18.
Assessment: Assessment will be through an online multiple-choice test, a written test and assignment.
Academic progression: After successful completion of this qualification you can progress onto 2395 Periodic Inspection and testing and 2396 Design, Erection and Verification, both of which run subject to demand.
