City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma Specialist Make Up

Who is this course for?

For men and women seeking a career as make up artists in photographic and specialist make up areas of the industry and/or working for skin care and make up companies.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

GCSE English and Maths, plus an artistic subject are required at Grade A-C plus Level 2 Beauty Therapy/Media Make Up or equivalent. A satisfactory reference. Good dexterity skills and a good standard of oral and written communication are required. Level 2 Literacy and Level 2 Numeracy is required.

What will I study ?

* Health & Safety * Relevant anatomy and physiology * Promoting products or services to clients * Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business * Cosmetic make up - camouflage * Creating and interpreting fashion and photographic make up including avant garde, advertising and retro * Functional Skills * Competition and show work * Compiling and interpreting a portfolio of images * Creating a total image * Presentation skills * History of make up * Industry knowledge and skills make up for current demands and aspects eg., TV/film/internet plus understanding industry schedules, call sheets, booking forms.

How will I be assessed ?

By a range of methods including assignments, written tests, presentations, oral questions, practical assessments on external models to include functional skills, show/competition work, portfolio of evidence including photographic and moving images.

What qualifications could I achieve ?

On successful completion of the course you will achieve Beauty Therapy (Make up) Level 3 Diploma

How do I join the course ?

Complete an application form and return it to admissions.

Will I need an interview ?

A formal interview is required where people will complete oral, written and dexterity tests to determine suitability. A reference is also required. Proof of qualification must be brought to the interview

Further Information

A willingness to work on competitions and shows is essential and may take place outside of the timetabled hours. It is advised that students have their own camera and camcorder to be able to record, print and copy images.
