This course aims to give an introduction to contemporary fine art practice.
You will develop your work through a series of interrelated, set projects. Teaching methods will include individual tutorials, group discussions, seminars, practical demonstrations and projects, and museum and gallery visits.

About this course

- present the sketchbooks you have developed and know how to use a variety of visual research methods.
There is a basic materials allowance, although you will be required to buy specialist items, such as canvas, stretchers, oils and sculpture materials. Tutors in the class will give advice on these. There will be no need to bring anything to the first session.

Course programme
The course will develop a range of skills centred around drawing, painting, 3-D, printmaking, digital arts, photography and mixed media. The various specialist tutors will provide insight and information about the different approaches to fine art practice. This will be supported by an introduction to art theory which complements the various practical projects.
This course concerns contemporary practice and debate. As such you can expect to be stimulated and challenged by some of the ideas and images discussed.
