This is a practical course on the core skills required to become an Assisting Photographer. You will learn a range of techniques and processes including setting up lights, capturing, managing, retouching and processing images as well as efficiently dealing with the paperwork involved.
Although this is a non-accredited course, students successfully completing the course will be awarded our City
Lit Certificate - based on achievements of the course outcomes and attendance..

About this course
- use tethered capture (transfer images to a computer during shooting) using Adobe Lightroom and Capture One software
- set up studio lighting and speedlights (off camera portable flash) for a variety of situations
- capture and output images using a colour-managed workflow
- batch-process images for web and print using the most common industry software packages.
You will learn in a relaxed environment with a small group of up to 8 people.

Please bring your manual camera to the classes; you may also wish to bring a notebook and pen. City Lit has a range of digital SLR cameras, tripods and lenses which are available to you during the hours of the class. It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC-formatted hard drives can be read by Apple Macs, but not written to). CDs/DVDs are available.
