Our fully accredited MSc Civil Engineering will help you acquire advanced capabilities and in-depth knowledge across a range of civil engineering disciplines, including bridge engineering, construction management, and geotechnical, structural and water engineering.

This course offers six study streams, including bridge engineering, construction management, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, water engineering and environmental engineering, and infrastructure engineering and management. As well as supporting your career development, this course provides you with the necessary further learning for engineers working in the construction industry who hold related first degrees such as engineering geology or construction management. It is also designed to update the technical skills of practising engineers engaged in the planning, design, construction and operation of civil engineering works.

About this course

Civil engineers design, build and maintain the physical world around us. Become a civil engineer, and you’ll be advancing and protecting the physical fabric of civilisation itself. This well-established and fully accredited MSc Civil Engineering is delivered by leading academics, together with practising engineers from consultancies and local authorities. It will equip you with first-class analytical and technical skills across a range of civil engineering disciplines, which will help you pursue a highly successful career in the field of civil engineering.

A minimum of 60 per cent in a UK honours degree in civil engineering accredited to CEng, with a minimum of 60 per cent in Structures and Codified Design subjects, Management and Soil Mechanics or Geotechnics subjects. Alternatively, a minimum of 70 per cent in a UK honours degree in civil engineering accredited to IEng, plus approval from the relevant institution. We'll also accept a recognised equivalent international qualification. At least five years of relevant industrial experience or a professional qualification (for example, CEng) will also be considered if you don't meet these requirem
