The HNC Civil Engineering Studies course is intended as your first step towards becoming a Professional Engineering Technician. Engineering Technicians are concerned with the solution of different types of engineering problems using proven techniques and theories.

Engineering Technicians are equipped to carry out supervisory and technical roles within industrial and public organisations, and are competent to apply their skills within defined fields of technology.

Practitioners that undertake the HNC Civil Engineering Studies course will have the opportunity to develop their competencies in theoretical and practical knowledge of civil engineering procedures and their application for the solution of real-life problems.

Successful completion of the course will enable graduates to explore further education opportunities by progressing to a Civil Engineering degree, to seek Incorporated or Chartered Civil Engineering status and to become a practitioner in the global community.

The HNC Civil Engineering Studies graduate will be able to:

· apply appropriate theoretical and technical principles for the solution of engineering problems.

· identify engineering problems and select suitable methods and resources for effective and achievable solutions.

· demonstrate the ability to work reliably for the completion of technical and other tasks to the appropriate codes of practice.

· develop and implement effective interpersonal skills.

2019 Entry

A minimum of grade E from A-Levels.
BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma at gade P
Applicants will normally be expected to hold GCSE English and Maths at grade C+/4 or equivalent

Course programme

You will be covering fundamental subjects of the civil engineering discipline such as mathematics, structures and design.

You will also study the properties of soils and ground water in a civil engineering context (geotechnics), together with aspects of site surveying and setting-out.

We have close links with the Institution of Civil Engineers and will assist students in meeting the requirements for registering as Engineering Technicians.
