City & Guilds 2079/11 F-Gas Training Course.

All engineers handling HFC refrigerants must hold an F-Gas qualification or equivalent national qualification to practice. Engineers who currently hold the City & Guilds 2078 F-Gas qualification are required to upgrade to the City & Guilds 2079/11.

F-Gas Category 1 – Five Day

Cost Includes: Course Materials, City & Guilds Certification, Lunch and Refreshments.

Safety Note: This course includes practical hot works, therefore PPE will be required.

Who will benefit from this training?

Newcomers to the RAC Industry, Apprentices, Career Changer Persons & Up-Skilling Engineers and persons who wish to work with fluorinated gases and ozone depleting substances, in the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Heat Pump and Thermo-Dynamic Solar Industry.

This course covers refrigeration pipe work and brazing and flare connections, pressure testing evacuation and charging and recovery of refrigerant and basic refrigeration theory. The course is approximately 60% Practical and 40% Classroom.

The course concludes with a City & Guilds F Gas Category 1 practical assessment and on-line exam.

Course Content:

Refrigeration theory, systems, principles and units

Cause and effects of global warming, climate change and ozone depletion

Identification of components, functions and leakage risk

Safe working practices

Construction and examination of pipework

Refrigeration procedures

Documentation

Refrigerant charging and recovery

Fabricate and fit mechanical and brazed joints

Pressure test and evacuate to BS EN 378

Charge a blended refrigerant

Analyse system performance to ensure efficiency (using pressure, temperature, refrigerant state and rule of thumb)

Leak test to EC1516/2007

Maintain ‘F Gas’ log books and records

Handle refrigerant safely & dispose of legally

Assessment Type:

Closed Book Multiple Choice Exam (40 questions) 80 mins

4hr Practical Assessment

Holders of this qualification will be able to register with ACRIB.

The course also meets the requirements of the F-Gas assessment regulations 2009 Cat 1.
