Course programme

We will translate, examine and discuss the Philoctetes by Sophocles.

Whole class work; reading and translating original texts; tutor posing questions and answering questions raised by the students. General discussion on language, style, main topics, etc. Students will be asked to prepare a passage for each class. Homework: about 3 hours per week. Any edition of the play. Recommended: Sophocles, Philoctetes, ed. by Seth L. Schein (Cambridge University Press, 2013) ISBN-13: 978-0521681438.
