Course programme
Successful completion will result in certification for a maximum of 3 years (certification periods may be shorter, depending on individual company's climbing policy). A short reassessment will continue the certification, if undertaken within the 36-month period. The successful delegate will be deemed competent to climb protected access ways, using the systems used on the course and temporary systems when required to do so. They will be deemed competent to work in, and outside, protected areas on the structure.
COURSE CONTENTS
Legislation when working at height.
Personal Protective Equipment - inspection & use.
Access ways - protected & unprotected.
Climbing techniques in exposed locations.
Temporary fall arrest systems.
Risk assessments.
Hazards when climbing & emergency procedures.
The course will involve elements of classroom and practical tuition. Emphasis will, at all times, be on practical climbing
under the safe supervision of an instructor. Delegates will be continually assessed throughout the course. A short written
paper and assessed climb will be used to measure attainment of objectives.
