How will I be assessed?

Through practical and theoretical assessments.

Practical assessment is carried out on a 1:1 ratio basis.

Assessment is carried out using a variety of assessment methods including multiple choice, short written response and scenario questions and observed practical assessment.

What does the course lead to?

The one day training course will take you to assessment, where after successful completion you will gain certification from BPEC.

What will I study?

CMDDA1 is designed to address the investigation of reported fumes, smells or leakage of combustion products in domestic premises through the use of an ECGA (Electronic combustion gas analyser), where conventional safety checks have failed to identify any clear cause(s) e.g. CO alarm activation following a number of past visits to the same property.

You will study:

- Recording and actions when receiving a call for assistance

- The equipment required, recording and actions to take during the investigation

- Procedures for carrying out checks for CO as part of the investigation

- Procedures for carrying out checks as a result of the activation of an electrical CO alarm

- Gas appliance investigation and report

- Combustion Performance Action levels

What can I go on to study?

You could consider the non-domestic courses and widen your portfolio. Examples include:

COCN1 - Core Commercial Gas Safety or CoDNC01 Changeover from Domestic to Commercial
ICPN1 - Commercial Pipework
TPCP1/1A Test and Purge
ICAE1 - Commercial Appliance Installations
CORT1 - Overhead Radiant/Plaque Heaters
CDGA1 - Direct Fired Appliances
CIGA1 - Indirect Fires Appliances
