Course Overview:
The Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership is a more extensive qualification than the CMI Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management. It gives you a broader knowledge of leadership skills while focusing on the specific management areas appropriate to you, and, your workplace. The course duration for the Level 5 Certificate is six months. Students will be provided with Affiliate membership of the CMI through until the completion of their studies.

Progression Opportunities:
On successful completion, a number of progression opportunities become available: • Enhance your professional status by upgrading your CMI membership. • Progress to other qualifications at the same level (e.g. CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership, CMI Level 5 Apprenticeship Programmes). • Progress to other qualifications at the next level (e.g. from Level 5 Certificate to Level 6 or 7 Award or Certificate). • Apply to become a Chartered Manager.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, participants will normally be either practicing, or, aspiring middle managers. They will have the opportunity to meet the assessment criteria through their own experiences, and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme.

Course Delivery:

You will complete the two units ‘Being a Leader’ and ‘Personal Development as a Manager and a Leader’ • ‘Being a Leader’ is about understanding and applying leadership skills, and, the understanding of ethical and cultural issues within the organisation. • ‘Personal Development as a Manager and a Leader’ is about assessing and, improving individual management and leadership skills and competencies against objectives. This course includes three workshops of one day duration. After which you will receive: • at least two hours 1:1 contact with your assigned tutor • on-going advice and guidance throughout the duration of this course. Assessment is via practical work-based assignments. This ensures you take minimum time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to you.
