This 1st4sport course has been developed in partnership with the Association for Physical Education and with the support of Compass. It is a competence-based qualification that confirms occupational competency for those operating in a school sport setting and provides an introduction to further opportunities to work within physical education and school sport. It will provide you with the opportunity to coach in Primary Schools.

How will I study?
The course is made up of 12 Units. The units include: Communication skills, Schools as Organisations, Understanding Child Development, Planning and Leading School Sport. Learners must achieve a total of 54 credits units to achieve the Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport (QCF); which must be achieved through completion of all 8 mandatory units.
How will I be taught?
Practical elements on the Astro and Sports Hall supported with theory based in the classroom. When the students are ready they will then be coaching in schools, supported by the staff. It is expected that the students are coaching a sport outside of College, this can range from local Netball team to an under 10 Football team. Some units will be home study and also group work.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is all portfolio based, including practical observations of sport sessions.
